Ready for Your Concrete Delivery

Whether you’re a small residential contractor or overseeing a major construction project in the heart of San Francisco, you’ll probably need to have concrete delivered at some point during the job. If this is your first time scheduling concrete delivery with a commercial concrete supplier in the Bay Area, here are a few tips to help things go smoothly when the concrete arrives.

Confirm Your Delivery

Same-day concrete delivery is available, but in most cases a contractor will schedule delivery weeks or even months out as they map out the project. If you are placing an order for future delivery, go ahead and call up the concrete company a day or two before the scheduled delivery to confirm your order and make sure everything is in order. The last thing you want to do is deal with any delays or avoidable mistakes on the day you’re expecting your concrete to show up.

Talk to Your Crew

It’s a good idea to get your construction crew together before the concrete arrives to discuss any needs or concerns they have. Depending on the size of the job and the size of your crew, you might not have any dedicated or experienced concrete workers. If this is the case, you will need to assess your crew’s comfort and ability working with concrete to determine if any additional resources are needed (such as hiring a concrete contractor to oversee the pour or asking your concrete supplier for tips and quick training).

Make Some Room

The most important thing you can do to ensure a smooth delivery is to give the concrete supplier plenty of room to work with. Although the size of the job will dictate the amount of concrete you are having delivered, make sure there is plenty of room for the concrete delivery truck to maneuver in and around your job site. You might also need to make room for concrete mixers or a portable plant (again, depending on the size of your job). Your concrete delivery company can give you more specifics regarding space requirements.
